Here’s a few of my latest pochoirs. I’m really excited to be working on this artform again. Heather and I were talking the other day about different categories of representational art, and we agreed that Pochoirs are definitely in their own category.
These were done with an airbrush – I’ve been using one for a few months now. I really like how easy it is to get nice gradations. Also it is fun to use. It does require a lot of maintenance and cleaning however.
These are a few Calvin Pochoirs. Five different ones. The close up of the first one is of the final test and the other four are variations on that design scheme.
These are painted on paper. You might notice how the left edge of the building is different shape – that is because the paper was curled a little from the paint and water mixture.
I’ve been painting various scenes of Northampton for almost 20 years now. In 1997 I made a series of mixed media works on paper of a bunch of places downtown. Back then the “C” had been knocked off the sign and we called it the Alvin. Then a few years ago a few letters were nudged and I painted that. Then the A fell off and once again I did a painting of that. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve painted the Calvin.
I like how these came out.
I will make more of these so if you want one of your own, please get in touch.
